Folia entomologica hungarica (Folia ent. hung.) is an open access, international scientific journal, a continuation of the journal Rovartani Lapok founded in 1884. It is published by the Hungarian Entomological Society (HES) and the Hungarian Natural History Museum (HNHM).

The journal publishes original research papers in the field of entomology, with special focus on the topics of taxonomy, faunistics and biogeography. Manuscripts are considered if they fulfil the following two criteria: (1) they are at least partly based on materials deposited in one of the public entomological collections in Hungary, or at least one of the authors is a Hungarian entomologist, and (2) primary types of newly described species group taxa are deposited in a public collection (not necessarily in Hungary).

Folia entomologica hungarica is published both in online and printed forms. Accepted papers are published online (at folia.nhmus.hu) continuously throughout the year with individual publication dates, and at the end of each year they are compiled into a printed volume. Manuscript submission is continuous; however, publication of manuscripts submitted after 1st November (upon acceptance) is not guaranteed in the same year. Accepted papers including nomenclatural acts are registered in ZooBank (the Official Registry of Zoological Nomenclature) and archived at Zenodo digital repository by the editors in order to comply with the requirements of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. Any nomenclatural act published in the journal becomes valid immediately as the respective paper is published online. The journal is peer-reviewed, the submitted manuscripts are reviewed by the editorial team and specialists of the respective fields. Papers are published in English.

The journal offers remarkably rapid publication possibility for the authors: manuscripts with appropriate scientific content and with great care on following the Instructions to authors may be published within a month from submission.
